Can you help me with legal matters that are unrelated to employment law?
Maybe. Depending on the issue, we may be able to handle it in-house. However, support on non-employment law matters would be subject to an additional fee. We will provide you with a fixed fee quote for the service so you can include the expense in your budget. You will never be charged an hourly rate unless you specifically request it. And, if you have subscribed to our service, you will receive a 15% discount on all fixed fee services. If your legal issue is one that we cannot handle internally, we will do our best to refer you to a
qualified lawyer that we trust who can assist you.

How many calls am I limited to each month?
If you have chosen our unlimited package, unlimited really means unlimited! You can call us, email us, or meet with us remotely as many times as you feel necessary.

What is the process to become a client and how quickly does the service start after we sign up?
Once you decide that you want to work with us, we will send you an engagement letter, which will explain the scope of our services, our fees and the term you have chosen. We believe in complete transparency. As soon as you have signed the engagement letter, you become a client and can access our services immediately.

What are the payment options?
Payment for our subscription can be made annually or monthly. The most economical option is to choose a 5 year plan and pay annually. The most expensive option is to select a 1 year plan and pay monthly. We give you the option of how you want to pay so that you can decide what works best for your organization’s budget and cash flow.

Law firms typically charge by the hour, why don’t you?
We designed our firm to allow us to best fulfill our mission of helping Canadian SMBs. We believe that that charging by the hour does not serve our client’s best interest.

When a law
firm charges by the hour, it means that:

  • You can’t budget for legal services effectively because you will never know the cost of your legal services until you receive your invoice
  • Your lawyer is not incentivized to provide efficient and effective legal services
  • You avoid communicating with your lawyer because you know that every communication increases your cost and poor communication between a client and their lawyer often leads to less than optimal results
  • You are REACTIVE. You will only speak with your lawyer if you have to, which means AFTER a problem has already occurred

Conversely, with our model of subscription fees and fixed fee a la carte services, it means
that:

  • You know exactlty how much you are going to spend on legal services before you agree to hire the lawyer
  • You can effectively budget for legal services
  • Your lawyer is incentivized to provide you with the best possible legal services in the most efficient and effective way they can
  • You can use your lawyer strategically and PROACTIVELY to plan ahead and avoid legal issues

No problem. You can do that. We are here to help you in the way that you want to be helped. Tell us the issue and we will provide you with a custom quote. We have many clients who use us in this way.
